about

Inspired by Prof Jack McCaslin's descriptions of the record cutup experiments of Christian Marclay. Several 33s and 45s were chopped, glued together in new arrangements, and recorded. Track #2 is a sound collage of various found sounds.

The original self-released cassettes were packaged with one of 4 different cover designs. These were combined into one for CD-R release.

-Nathan J. Morris, VELVET EMPIRE

"this is a tape of cut-ups, which are little tiny samples from various music sources all spliced together to make a larger work. there is an underlying rhythmic beat to give it a sense of music. some of the sources are recognizable and they are quite varied. this something very different. not noise, really, something completely artistic."

-Scott Hatch, BURNT TOAST

"No track listing is offered with this cassette, but each piece is very similar in style, so that's OK. It sounds like they took some old records, scratched them up, then recorded the results of their handiwork. Sometimes a couple of these skipping sound experiments are layered over one another, sometimes they are augmented with an appropriate beat, and sometimes other audio oddities are thrown into the mix (one track has a bunch of old Atari game sounds). One would think that the result of all this would be mass chaos, but it's actually quite listenable. Some of the most interesting experimental music in the genre."
